Brian started his role as Athletic Director in August of 2018. In 2019 Brian worked with the Northwest College Foundation to help raise almost $400,000, in Athletics, which is the most in Trapper Atheltics history. Before taking over as Athletic Director he was the Head Coach of the Northwest College Trappers men’s basketball team for 6 years. During his 6 years as Head Coach, Brian helped guide the Trappers to a combined record of 120-74 with a Region IX Championship, as well as a final four and quarter-final appearance in the Region IX Tournament. The 2014-2015 team will go down in Northwest’s history as one of the most successful teams to ever compete for the Trappers. During that season, Erickson led the Trappers to the second best record (31-5); they hosted the Region IX Tournament for the first time in school history; and won the Region IX Championship for the first time in 46 years …finishing in the Elite 8 at the NJCAA National Tournament. Brian also coached and helped develop the 2014-2015 National Player of the Year. Not only have Coach Erickson’s teams been successful on the court, they’ve succeeded in the classroom. As Head Coach 90% of the men’s basketball student-athletes completed their Associate’s degrees. The 2012-2013, 2015-2016, and 2017-2018 teams made the National All-Academic Team.

Prior to becoming Head Coach, Brian was the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for three seasons (2009-2012). In his three seasons as Assistant Coach he helped the Trappers to an overall record of 64-30. His primary responsibilities were recruiting and student athlete skill/strength development. He also assisted with student athlete academic progress and achievement goals.

Brian grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended Granger High School. During his senior season he was selected for the 5A All-State basketball team. He started his collegiate career at Eastern Wyoming and played two seasons for former Northwest College Head Coach Andy Ward. While at Eastern he helped lead the Lancers in back-to-back Region IX championships, where they placed 8th at the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament. He was recruited to Eastern to play shooting guard but during his sophomore season was moved to the point guard position. His next two seasons were spent at Montana State University-Northern.

He graduated with his Bachelor’s in Business from Montana State University-Northern. After graduating he moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah and worked as a Project Manager for a Human Resource solutions company (Automatic Data Processing). When he came to Northwest he completed a mentorship for the United States Sports Academy (USSA) and obtained his Master’s in Sport’s Management from USSA. He is married to his high school sweetheart Callee (Fast) and has three children, Gunnar, Coy and Jersee.
