Two Northwest College men’s basketball players signed to continue their playing careers together at the next level — with Juan Pablo Camargo and David Ayala signing to play at the University of Texas at Tyler.

A successful two-day fundraiser for Northwest College athletics saw a good turnout for the annual Trapper Bonanza at the Powell Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.

Northwest College hosted its Trapper Athletic Awards Ceremony on May 2, honoring the various programs at Northwest after a successful year.

Andy Ward returned to help the Trappers this season, and was recently named the official head coach for Northwest after serving an interim season.

Northwest College has named Andy Ward as the official coach of the men’s basketball team, after serving this past season as the team’s interim head coach.

Davion McAdam made a significant leap in his only year at Northwest, averaging 21.9 points per game for the Trappers after two underwhelming years in Casper.

A bounce back season for the Northwest College men’s basketball team in Region IX led to multiple postseason honors. Davion McAdam was named to the Region IX first team, Juan Pablo Camargo was named a Region IX honorable mention and the late coach Jay Collins was named Coach of the Year.

TRAPPER MEN FALL SHORT IN SEMIFINALS

The Northwest College men’s basketball season ended at the Region IX tournament in Casper on Friday. The Trappers fell in the semifinals to Trinidad State, 87-63, after defeating Lamar Community College 69-68 in dramatic fashion in the previous day’s quarterfinals.

An extra week to rest and prepare has the Northwest College men’s basketball team heading to Casper for the Region IX quarterfinals on Thursday, matching up with Lamar Community College at 1 p.m. at Casper College.

TRAPPERS STUMBLE INTO POSTSEASON AS TWO SEED

Despite locking up the No. 2 seed heading into the postseason the Northwest College men’s basketball team stumbled in their final regular season contests — losing on the road to Central Wyoming 77-68 on Thursday and falling short with a late comeback attempt to Western Wyoming 63-60 on Monday.

Kolter Merritt and the Trapper men have continued their strong run through Region IX play and will look to wrap up a top seed this week.

The Northwest College men’s basketball team continued its strong Region IX play last weekend — defeating Eastern Wyoming at home 91-73 on Thursday before edging Western Wyoming 64-63 on the road Saturday.

It has not been easy, but the Northwest College men’s basketball team continued its unbeaten start to Region IX North play — moving to 4-0 after defeating Laramie County Community College 80-73 and Central Wyoming College 87-82.
