The winter has come and gone and the Northwest College rodeo team is set to start the second half of its season, heading to Bozeman, Montana, to kick off spring events.

The Northwest College rodeo team is set to kick off its season this weekend, as it gears up to host its annual Trapper Rodeo in Cody this Friday and Saturday.

Shane Proctor rode a bull at the Cody Stampede for the last time July 3. After this year he still plans to compete in roping events and ride broncs, but he said bulls ‘are a young man’s game and I’m not young.’

Shane Proctor, a former Cody Stampede and three-time Xtreme Bulls winner, an NFR champ and college rodeo star, rode a bull at the rodeo grounds on the west side of town for the last time July 3.

The lights shined bright in Casper during the College National Finals Rodeo from June 9-15, with two Northwest College Trapper cowboys posting scores, and one advancing to the short go during the biggest event of the year.

A strong spring season saw the Northwest College Trapper men’s rodeo team finish third overall in the Big Sky Region, resulting in three cowboys heading to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, while the women’s program finished sixth in the region.
