After a year on the sidelines leading the Northwest College women’s basketball team, coach Cody Helenbolt has been rehired to take the permanent position, giving him the opportunity to lead the Trappers once again after a 17-14 debut season.

TRAPPER WOMEN FALL IN DOUBLE OT THRILLER

A double overtime thriller saw the Northwest College women’s basketball team’s season come to a close in Cabre Gym on Saturday, as Eastern Wyoming outlasted the host Trappers 63-56.

NWC WOMEN LOSE LAST REGULAR SEASON GAME

A back-and-forth affair wrapped up the regular season for the Northwest College women’s basketball team, as the Trappers fell 77-74 to Gillette College on Thursday.

NWC WOMEN STUMBLE IN CASPER, ROCK SPRINGS

Two late season losses have set the stage for a key final game of the season for the Northwest College women’s basketball team. Losses to Casper College 68-48 on Feb. 19 and Western Wyoming 79-51 on Saturday have put the Trappers in a must-win last game if they want to host a postseason contest.

NWC WOMEN PICK UP KEY WIN

Wrapping up a three game home stretch the Northwest College women’s basketball team earned a third straight win, picking up a key win and avenging an earlier season loss against Central Wyoming with an 89-50 victory.

NWC WOMEN SWEEP HOME WEEKEND

Strong shooting Friday night and lockdown defense on Saturday helped the Northwest College women’s basketball pick up some key conference wins at home, defeating Eastern Wyoming 87-63 on Friday before defeating Laramie County Community College 61-46 on Saturday.

POOR THIRD QUARTER SINKS WOMEN HOOPERS

A difficult third quarter proved to be the difference for the Northwest College women’s basketball team on the road, as a spirited fourth quarter comeback fell short and the Trappers fell 72-66 on the road to Gillette College on Saturday.

TRAPPER WOMEN STRUGGLE ON THE ROAD

January 30, 2025

Three games over a five day span coupled with poor shooting led to a difficult road swing for the Northwest College women’s basketball team. The Trappers defeated Laramie County Community College 55-49 on Friday before losing two straight to Eastern Wyoming 82-68 on Saturday and Central Wyoming 76-69 on Tuesday.

Two of the top opponents in Region IX made for a difficult opening schedule to the conference season at home for the Northwest College women’s basketball team, which dropped a pair of contests 84-55 and 76-53 to Casper College and Western Wyoming on Thursday and Saturday.

TRAPPER WOMEN DEFEAT ALL-STARS

The Northwest College women’s basketball team kicked off the second half of the season on Tuesday night at Cabre Gym, defeating the WY All-Stars 92-57.

TRAPPERS SWEEP SPARTANS AT HOME

Wrapping up the first semester at home the Northwest College women’s basketball team swept visiting Colorado Northwestern Community College 76-50 and 72-63 to head into the winter break with an 11-5 record.

Another long road trip north ended with split results for the Northwest College women’s basketball team, falling to Williston State College in North Dakota on Friday 76-63 before defeating Dawson Community College on Saturday 92-76.

NWC WOMEN EXTEND WIN STREAK TO FOUR

December 05, 2024

The Northwest College women’s basketball team earned a pair of close wins in North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, defeating Bismarck State College 102-100 in overtime and United Tribes Technical College 73-67. The Trappers then returned home Tuesday night and defeated the Rocky Mountain College JV 78-39 to extend their winning streak to four games.

Two difficult finishes down the stretch sunk the Northwest College women’s basketball team on the road in Casper, losing late leads after difficult shooting performances against Air Force Prep 58-57 and Arizona Western 64-53.

CONDIE, PORTER NAMED HEART OF A CHAMPION WINNERS

In between the Northwest College men’s and women’s basketball games on Friday night the Trappers honored the memory of the late Jay Collins who passed away suddenly in July 2022. The Trapper coaches each picked one player on their team who best represents what Collins stood for during his time as the Northwest College men’s basketball head coach. Sophomores Preston Condie and Jai’La Porter were named the Heart of a Champion award recipients for 2024.
