Bio

Veteran coach Scott Keister enters his third year with Northwest College and brings extensive coaching experience to the program.  Keister has over 23 years of coaching experience at all levels of the game, with 14 of those years being at the collegiate level. In just 2 short years, Keister has taken a team that was 5-23 to a team that went 24-7 in the previous season.

Prior to Northwest College, Keister was an assistant coach for 7 seasons at Salt Lake Community College and earned the AVCA Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2013.  While at SLCC, he helped lead the Bruins to 3 NJCAA National tournament appearances, 2 Region Titles and 5 All Americans. 

Prior to SLCC, Keister was the head coach at Riverton High School (UT) and prior to that, the Assistant Coach at Montana State University, an NCAA Division-I institution in the Big Sky Conference. He also worked as part of the University of Utah program, learning from longtime Utah head coach Beth Launiere and as a volunteer assistant at Westminster College (UT).

Keister was also a director of High Performance for Intermountain Volleyball in the USA Volleyball pipeline and has international coaching experience from that stint as well as 20 years of club coaching experience with various clubs throughout Utah and Montana.

Keister played collegiate volleyball at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, earning an Associate Degree there. He then received an undergraduate degree from Weber State, in an integrated studies program that combined coaching, physical education and history.

An Evansville, Indiana native, Keister and his wife, Alicia, have four children – McKenna, Sophie, Kendall and Kelsey. He enjoys spending time with family and watching sports of all kinds when not coaching.
